The top is rated for 132 lbs, so a lamp, a speaker and a stack of books are no trouble. A raised baseboard lifts the bottom cubes 3 inches clear of the floor, which keeps books out of the dust.

It also works as a low divider

Behind a sofa it marks the edge of a seating area without hiding the rest of the room. Depth is 13 inches. Two metal anti tipping kits come with it, and on a piece children will lean on they should go in first.
