These run on three AA batteries in a box at the base, so each tree is entirely self contained. Push the stake into the ground or the snow where you want it and there is nothing running back to the house at all.

29 inches on a 15.5 inch spread

Twenty-nine inches overall including the stake, on a 15.5 inch spread of branches. The manufacturer describes the planted height as two feet, the difference being the length of stake that goes into the ground.

Stakes made for frozen ground

The stand is an iron tripod with a five inch lengthened section, which is there so it can go deep enough into soil or packed snow to stay upright. Either side of a door or spaced along a path is how they are meant to be used.

Deep green PVC pine needles with pine cones, red berries and red balls fitted in, and 30 warm white LEDs among them. Nothing needs adding, which is the point of something that lives outdoors where hanging ornaments would blow off.

Are batteries included?

No. Each tree takes three AA cells in a box at its base, and they are not supplied. Lithium AA cells hold up better than alkaline in Canadian winter temperatures, which is worth knowing if these are going outside in December.

Can they stay out in snow?

The manufacturer designs the lengthened stake specifically to be pushed into snow or ground and photographs the trees in snow, but publishes no ingress or temperature rating. We would keep the battery box clear of standing water and expect cold to shorten battery life.

Is it 29 inches or 2 feet?

Both figures are the manufacturer's. Twenty-nine inches is the whole tree including the stake; two feet is roughly what stands above ground once the stake is pushed in.

What are the eight modes?

Is there a timer?

None is published for this model, so none is claimed. Expect to switch them on and off at the box, or to use steady on and change the batteries more often.

Can I use them indoors?

Yes, and the manufacturer photographs one as a table centrepiece. Being battery powered they need no outlet wherever they stand.
